You’re in Barbados! Now make the most of your stay!

We all love to spend a little time soaking up the sun and making a happy sigh as we choose our favourite spot to relax on the beach. But, since you’re here in Barbados – the land of fun, you might as well extend your treat by taking in a few sights!

First and foremost, enjoy the beach! Barbados is a tropical island surrounded by the bright blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. Be amazed by how clear the water is while you swim, snorkel, or just relax on the soft white sand at the beach. Be sure to visit Carlisle Bay on the southwest coast of the island to experience soft sand and calm waters.

Take an Island Safari Tour! Don’t let the name confuse you, the only animals you may run into are the famous green monkeys or a wild mongoose. The Island Safari Tour takes you off road to some of the most scenic spots on the island. Lunch and unlimited Rum Punch is always included!

For those who seek adrenaline, check out the island’s newest attraction – a hydro flight on a Jetblade over the water. The Jetblade is a water jetpack that uses state of the art technology to allow its users to fly over water! Once you are over the water make sure to look down into the sea. The crystal clear water allows you to see everything below you, ranging from fish to the rocks at the bottom of the sea.

Race your friends in the ultimate racing experience at Bushy Park Barbados. The karting experience features a specially designed circuit made with sharp curves and long straightaways to reach maximum speeds of 50 mph! Once you finish with your race, each competitor receives a scorecard detailing how you performed during your racing experience. Are you daring enough to win?

Spend an afternoon in Chattel House Village in Holetown. The path of brightly colored chattel houses serve as shops and restaurants full of interesting finds, ranging from souvenirs to local fashion. The houses represent the traditional wooden chattel houses that once covered the island. If you are looking for a high end shopping experience, Limegrove Lifestyle Center is said to be the best place to shop in Barbados. Limegrove boasts designer brands, an art gallery, and its own luxury cinema.

Get a taste of the local cuisine at the Oistin’s Fish Fry. Choose from a variety of grilled or fried fish, lobster, or chicken and walk around to the different areas where various crafts, jewellery and paintings are for sale. The fish fry is also a local dance scene with a section of modern dancers as well as some traditional line dancing. This event is put on every Friday night and is only a taxi ride away!

Visit the sparkling tunnels in Harrison’s Cave. The cave system boast about 2.3 kilometers of caves, with the largest being 15 meters tall. Take a Tram tour down into the cave or get down and dirty in the Eco-Adventure tour where you can crawl through unaltered terrain in a hard hat with a flashlight in hand.

Take a tour of the Mount Gay Rum Distillery! Come learn about the process of producing such a popular spirit from those who have been mastering the craft since 1703. Every tour ends with a sample tasting of their finest rums and some tours even include lunch.

If you are up for the drive, Animal Flower Cave is a beautiful scenic outlook on the northern point of the island. The views of cliff edges and the open ocean are breathtaking and make the hour long drive worth it.

 

Bonus Food Must Have:

Take a bite of the best fried chicken on the island at Chicken Rita’s. The chicken is served to you right from the frying pan and don’t be surprised if you end up eating every last bit off the bone. With the best seasoned chicken and fries on the island it can get a bit busy on weekends, but don’t worry you can have a few drinks while you wait.
